The plaza would open in early August 1962, with the main anchors being Zayres and Zayres Discount Foods. Sometime in the mid-60s, Zayres Discount Foods would close and be replaced by Ferretti's supermarket. The Ferrettis would close around 1984. An Alexander's supermarket would open around 1984-1985 in the former Ferretti's. Zayre was replaced by Ames in October 1989, after their acquisition in 1988. In June 1991, Alexanders would close after Hannaford bought the company in 1990 and decided to close the store. On March 1st 1992, Staples would open their 125th store in the former Alexanders. In early 1993, Ames would close. Staples would close in 1999, and relocate to the South Willow Shopping Center. In early 2000, the plaza would be demolished, and the Verizon Wireless Arena would be built on the site. In 2016, the arena would be renamed to the SNHU Arena.
