Construction of the plaza started in 1961 on the site of an old train yard. The first to open was the 1st of 2 anchors, Stop & Shop on May 1st 1962. Next to open was the second anchor, J.J.Newberry Department Store on May 23rd 1962. On June 7th 1962, Emmons opened. The plaza held its grand opening ceremony on June 21st 1962. Shortly after its opening in fall 1962, J.J.Newberry was Renamed to Britts department store and reopened on November 1st 1962. Week's Restaurant opened in 1965. In mid-September 1970, Emmons was re-branded to Howland's. Britts department store closed on July 12th 1979, after being bought out by Zayre Department Stores. Zayre's opened in the former Britts in early October 1979. On January 23rd 1982, Stop & Shop closed. Market Basket later opened in the former Stop & Shop on April 1st 1982. Jo-Ann Fabrics opened in mid-1985. On May 16th 1987, a Hallmark store opened. In October 1987, Howland's was rebranded to Steinbach. Zayre would close in early 1990 and was converted to an Ames department store after their buyout. Steinbach closed in late July 1990, after moving to the Steeplegate Mall. Fashion Bug opened on November 16th 1990. On December 19th 1992, Week's Restaurant closed. Rite Aid closed mid-late August 1998. Through late 1998 and early 1999, a plaza expansion was built next to the Ames, which was a Marshalls that opened in spring 1999. The plaza later received a remodel/renovation after Marshall's opening throughout spring and summer 2000. Ames closed in October 2002 after their bankruptcy. Burlington Coat Factory opened in the former Ames in October 2004. In September 2004 Blockbuster video opened in the former Rite Aid space. In summer 2008, the Hallmark store closed. Fashion Bug closed in mid-2012. In October 2012, an NH liquor store moved into part of the former Fashion Bug space, with Jo-Ann fabrics expanding into the rest of the space. The Payless ShoeSource closed in April 2019. In early 2023 a new building separated from the plaza in part of the parking lot was built. the 5 stores that opened in the new expansion were, Playa Bowls which opened May 6th 2023, 110 Grill which opened May 17th 2023, Starbucks opened May 26th 2023, Xfinity store which opened June 28th 2023, and T-Moble which opened August 4th 2023. on May 31st 2025 Joann Fabrics closed. In late summer 2025, construction started to downsize the Burlington store, and make more retail space for new stores such as five below, Boot Barn, And Ulta Beauty.
