Construction would start on this mall in early 1974, with the original plans for the Alexander's supermarket, and a 60,000 sqft department store, with indoor shopping space between. Plans for the department store would fall through, so only the alexander's and indoor shopping were built. My guess is that a Giant department store was the planned store. The mall would open in spring 1974, with Alexanders opening on May 14th 1974. First Federal Savings opened on November 2nd 1974. In summer 1975, Photo Corral opened. Norm Hardware opened in July 1975. CVS Pharmacy opened around 1976. In Fall 1976, construction would start on a McDonald's in the parking lot. McDonald's later opened in late May 1977. Radio Shack would open on April 6th 1977. Norms Hardware would close in the late 70s. In the early 80s, Perfecta Camera would replace the Photo Corral. Fashion Bug would open in 1982. USPS opened in 1988. In 1989, construction would start on a new Alexander's superstore in the space where the proposed department store was to be built. Alexanders would move into the new store in 1990. Around the same time, the indoor mall was converted to an outdoor plaza format. Alexander's old space would later be subdivided, and Papa Gino's and Blockbuster Video would open in part of that space. Shop n' Save would purchase the Alexander's Chain in 1991; this store was converted to a Shop n' Save around 1992. Perfecta Camera closed in the early 90s. In early 2000, Dollar Tree opened next to blockbuster filling the majority of the remaining former Alexander's space. Cash converters would open in the remaining formerAlexander'ss space in 2002. In November 2010, Blockbuster Video closed. AutoZone would open in the former Blockbuster in Summer 2011. Fashion Bug closed in January-February 2013. Cash converters would close in late 2013. In 2014, Radio Shack closed. Dollar Tree would relocate out of the plaza in the summer 2015. CVS would relocate out of the plaza around August 2018, after being in this plaza for 42 years. McDonald's would remodel in 2019. In 2022, Papa Gino's would become a combination Papa Gino's - D'Angelo's, which opened on October 20th 2022.
