The Belknap Mall opened in mid-1973 with Shaw's Supermarkets as one of the two anchors. The Second anchor Zayre Department store wouldn't open until November 15th 1973. CVS pharmacy opened in early 1983. Perfecta Camera opened in mid -1986. In early 1988, construction started on an addition to the mall where Zayre would move into a larger newly built store and the former Zayre would be absorbed into the mall, making the mall larger and new stores to open. The construction ended in summer 1988. In late July 1988, Decelle opened in part of the former Zayre that was not absorbed into the mall. In mid-November 1988 NH liquor store opened in the new Belknap plaza next door, shortly after KB Toys Works and Jo Ann Fabrics opened in the plaza. Zayre closed in 1989 and was later replaced by Ames in early 1990. Decelle closed in early 1996. On November 19th 1996, Blockbuster opened in part of the former Decelle. Ritz Camera took over Perfecta Camera in late 1997. Foot Locker closed in the late 1990s. Pet Paradise opened in 2002. Ames closed in October 2002 during the company's final closures. In 2003, after Ames closure the mall received large renovations, including a remodel of the exterior and interior. Big Lots opened in part of the former Ames on July 15th 2004. Peebles department store opened in part of the former Ames on October 21st 2004. KB Toy Works closed in late 2004. Payless ShoeSource closed in the mid-2000s. Sal's Pizza opened on June 6th 2005. On August 16th 2006, Planet Fitness opened in some of the remaining space of the Former Ames. On June 21st 2007, Maurices opened. Blockbuster closed in 2011. Planet Fitness later expanded in late 2010-2011. In late September 2011 Subway opened. On August 25th 2011, Jo Ann Fabrics reopened after expansion/remodel into part of the former KB Toys Works. Ritz closed late 2012. In March 2015, Radio Shack closed. Peebles closed in late 2017. NH liquor store closed in 2020. On March 1st 2020, CVS closed. In November 2023, Boot Town temporarily opened in the former CVS. On April 13th 2024, Boot Town opened in the former Maurices. Big Lots closed on February 27th 2025. Jo-Ann Fabrics closed on April 28th 2025. Ollie's bargen mart opened its 600th location in the former Big Lots on July 17th 2025.
