The plaza opened on November 19th 1969 with a J.M. Fields department store and supermarket. J.M. Fields closed along with its supermarket in May 1979 after the company's bankruptcy. Caldor would later move into the J.M. fields and would open November 17th 1979. It was the 61st Caldor store and was their only store in New Hampshire. On April 10th 1980 marshalls opened next to Caldor in the former J.M. Fields Supermarket. The Caldor would receive a remodel in 1991 and would reopen on September 21st 1991. Marshalls relocated to Bedford Mall across the street in the early 1990s, shortly after HomeGoods filled its space. Caldor would close in mid-late 1999. Caldor would sit abandoned until being demolished in spring 2003. Home Goods would remain after the demolition and stay open. In late 2003 construction started for a new Super Stop & Shop which would open on part of the Caldor site. After the construction of Stop & Shop the Home Goods entrance was relocated to face toward the Stop & Shop and new store spaces were added. Stop & Shop and its gas station opened in late spring 2004. The Stop & Shop was built facing Kilton rd where instead Caldor was facing S River rd which is the main road of the area. During the relocation of the Home Goods entrance the original front windows would stay. In 2009-2010 the original Home Goods windows would be blacked out and turned into signage. Supercuts opened in September 2011. Stop & Shop closed August 6th 2013 along with its gas station. On June 18th 2016 Hannafords opened in the former Stop & Shop and was the largest store in the chain at the time of opening. The store was a test for new store prototypes which proved successful. The construction of Hannafords included the demolition of the gas station and a new paint job for HomeGoods to match the new Hannafords. In early January 2021 a Bar Harbor Bank would open on the site of the former Stop & Shop gas station.
