Construction started on Hatch Plaza in early spring 1972. It later opened in fall 1972 with 2 main anchor tenants, Giant Department Store, which opened in October, and Food Town Supermarket. Giant department store did not last long and closed in 1973 along with the rest of the chain. Ames would later open in the former Giant store sometime in fall 1973 . Food Town would close in the late 70s and was replaced by a Shop 'n Save supermarket in 1979. Ames was renovated in fall 1985. Shop n' Save expanded in 1991. Brooks Pharmacy closed in the early 1990s. The plaza was painted green in the mid-1990s. All for a Dollar would later open in the former Brooks and was later replaced by Dollar Depot in 1997. Ames remodeled in fall 1998. Dollar Depot closed in the early 2000s and was replaced by Olympia Sports in spring 2002. In 2002 the Shop 'n Save would be renamed to Hannaford's. Ames closed in fall 2002. Rands' true value hardware closed in January 2004. Marshalls opened on October 20th 2005 in the former Ames. Family Dollar opened in May-June 2011. In June 2013, Bank of New Hampshire moved out of the plaza. Family Dollar closed in 2014. In April 2017, RadioShack closed. Olympia Sports closed around 2017-2018. In early December 2023, Granite Group opened in the former Family Dollar.
