WHAT IS UP YA’LL!!
Took us a bit to get back in the groove of things, but let’s just say that we were definitely in the thick of some lovely craziness. Long story short, THAR WAS A WEDDIN N’ DIO GOT MARRIED TO THE GOOD DOC TRAN! But that may be talked ‘bout in a later article :3
This article be about a series that kinda daisy chained it’s way towards me. One of my Final Fantasy XIV friends, Lili, sent this out to two of my other friends, Carrie and Jade (Yea I’m giving ya’ll a shout out, WHAT UP!) whom then sent it to me. As I recall correctly, I was out getting pho at the time, so I wasn’t able to check these out properly yet. And then I started getting weird cryptic messages:
“There are no faces.
“Dreams are the vestige of a primitive mind.”
“Remember the three F’s. Front Lawn, face up, feet together.”
I saw these as I was getting back into the car and thought to myself. ‘The hell is she talkin ‘bout?’ Then I saw the vids when I got home...and I understood why.
And was subsequently freaked the fuck out.
What was shown to me was a series of videos done by a fictional broadcast station called Local58, written and edited by Kris Straub. Not sure of what to make of this, I took a look at the five videos that were shown to me, while I was in a discord call. To say that I was a mite unsettled afterwards is an understatement.
I showed this to Dio, and she showed me a time-line in response. The ‘first’ vid in the timeline is called Contingency.
Many of the scenes and text you’ll see in this video are blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments, but if I’m being honest, you’ll wish you had blinked for these. Contingency is a video that starts off innocent enough, if not a bit calming, as it’s signaling the end of a broadcast day and wishing us a good night. Then we see what looks like is going to be a standard emergency broadcast system message...which grows much darker and sinister as it goes on. This message was used in the event of total surrender of the United States of America to enemy forces, and what follows is a series of instructions that get more and more cryptic as the video unfolds. Then, in one slide, it becomes very clear what they want you to do.
The broadcast is cut short, and it’s revealed to be a hoax by Local58, whom subsequently apologize for any confusion they may have caused.
...CONFUSION YOU SAY-
*Ahem* sorry ‘bout that, still reeling from seeing that a third time. From there, we continue on to the next show ‘long the timeline, which is Show for Children. Innocent, enough, right?
...Show for children, this ain’t.
Now on the one hand, the animation is rather cutesey, if not a lil macabre. In this animation called “A Grave Mistake”, you’ve got this lil skeleton roaming through the graveyard with the moon looking down at him cheerily. He finds a couple of open graves and peers into each one. What he sees inside is horrifying, each depicting horrifying visages of those that have recently died. And then he reaches the third grave.
By this point in time, you feel really bad for him, as he’s just wandering wanting to find people...well, dead people. Instead, he’s met with some truly horrific sights and is so shaken to the core that he actually has to sit and lie down. And then he sees it.
Now looking at the recap video I caught in order to understand the timeline of this series, I was met with some strange observations. The most notable one being “Why is this show showing at 4:15 in the fuggin morning?!” Think on that long enough and you can almost feel the eldritch horror unfold in your mind.
…
…
...you haven’t looked in the moon lately, have you?
...or at any clowns?
Those are a couple of vids that I saw, and there might be more. Keep tuned to this as we get back into the swing of things, cause I’m damned sure that Dio n’ Decon will hit us with some slick, spooky shit!
