What I like the best about Halloween is the ability to dress up in costumes and be someone else for awhile. Its cool to cosplay but I think its even better to cosplay a character that also dresses up. So here's a celebration to some halloween kinds of outfits and then some from video games.
I'm heading off the parade with a game I've been playing way too much lately.
No its not Animal Crossing.
I know. Wild ain't it?
Welcome to the world of Monster Hunter, ladies and gentlemen. Big game hunting at its finest. Kill the beastie, harvest its body parts and make cute little outfits from it materials. Try not to die.
Also you have cute cats that help you kill things.
Seriously if you aren't playing MH, you are missing out on some of the most frustrating, rage-quitty, but-I-can't-stop-playing-until-I-complete-this-armor-set game play. It certainly is a great way to pass 100 hours in the first week. This armor set is the Mosgharl set, available in MH3U, MH4/MH4U and MHGenerations, is made from the finest Bumblepumpkin (an item that is harder than shit to get sometimes @_@). The male's set is pretty badass with the devil pumpkin mask and badass cape and tails. The girl's outfit is a pumpykin witch, which made me want it the moment I could find it. It takes time to build and while it may not be the best in the game, it certainly helps a bit in the feel of a halloween set. Here'er the in-game renders for them:
Kingdom Hearts has some great outfits for Halloween Town, which should be the epitome of all halloween outfits. Donald's a little creepy, but Goofy's kinda cute.
Going down the costume route, while these may not be halloween costumes persay, they're interesting enough to be like costumes. Kinda. Maybe not the second of the next 2.
Henshin a go go, baby, this is one of my faves. Heather's alternate outfit called the Princess Heart, allows her to become a sort of mahou-shojo heroine armed with the Sexy Beam (no kidding).
She even has a henshin sequence so its totally worth it, as well as has some neat japanese easter eggs. I did like the wand weapon, but the Sexy Beam is the best thing about it.
Most of heather's alternate outfits involve shirts and jeans, and while they're all really neat (I do like the zipper shirt), but I like this one as well. It has an interesting color pallete that really makes it stand out in the dark.
By typing in the PrincessHeart into the typewriter, you unlock it.
OH YES I DID. 8D
Chris Redfield from Resident Evil Revelations.
Revelations indeed.
He looks like a Tom of Finland illustration. It probably was the point.
The NiGHTS: into dreams remake had a few problems with controls but the graphic upgrade and a couple new tricks up his little wristless sleeves. Just like having a skin swap with Reala in the original Christmas NiGHTS demo, the kids get a few new outfits in addition to the winter outfits and christmas ones they also got swimsuits and these neat little halloween outfits. Elliot gets decked out in a vampire outfit.
...and Claris has a sweet little witches costume, which I gotta say is my favorite swap with her cute pumpkin purse (with its heart shaped eyes), and the bobbed haircut.
The outfits are date triggered which means you can only play as these costumes in certain times of the year. Claris' outfit is available during the month of October, and Elliot is available on Halloween.
Witches are the order of the day around here, so here's a shot of everyone's favorite witch in a very witchy costume. Bayonetta is my hero. She's hot, has awesome powers, and totally cute outfits galore. Sexy too. And we all know how much I love my sexy.
The hat is super cute, and I'm a sucker for tulle and lace, and I'm a sucker for leather. Both in the same place? Hell yeah. Floofy skirts are awesome with thigh high boots. I like decollete as much as the next gentleman but in the strictest sense its not (since the area in actual decollete is the area around and above the breasts, and this is the part that is kinda covered up), but who the hell cares.
Its obtained by completing the game, accessing Rodin's Treasures and purchasing the Super Mirror. The couture bullets change your appearance and damn if she doesn't have some nice choices (though my favorite is her wonderful dress from Bayonetta 2. Something about an elegant lady really speaks to me. That and parasols.
More witches! Kinda XD The X-Box Director's Cut of Fatal Frame 2 has more costumes and accessories, including costumes for the heroine of Deception and Dead or Alive (Kasumi and Ayane), but I really do like the silly hat and pumpkin head. These are available through beating the game once.
Speaking of Tecmo:
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE JUST ONE??? Tecmo always designs great girls, and when it comes to the beauty of the female body, no one does it better than Dead or Alive. This set is part of the DoA5 pack, and while most of the DLC has neat costumes, its this halloween set I love the most. Here's a few choice looks:
I mean really. That's gotta be one of the best sets for any DLC period. Excluding the neat furniture in Animal Crossing. Yes, I'm serious.
I'm sure these's a few other games we can explore but that's a good teaser for now. So, you guys got your costume picked out yet? Only 23 days left to decide!
