Fresh as a daisy and tanned as fuck from a vacation to the hot place known as Florida, DisneyWorld and Wizarding World of Harry Potter. So I'm trying to stay ahead of the game by finishing and restoring the site (a monumental task to say the least) as we go into October for the Countdown. Pray to all the dark and light gods for us. @_@
Thrillingly, my funpack for September was here when I got in, so let's dive into the second month of 3 of Halloween goodness. :3
Its the season of Utz, and I finally have my hot lil hands on the cheese balls. After the Rifftrax guys didn't have any during their taping of the live Samurai Cop, and had them coming out the ears by the time we get to the Summer Shorts live show, I've been wanting to get some bad. Fortunately now I have some as well as the tasty pretzels. Man, Utz makes some damn fine pretzels.
I mean lookit these pretzels!!! SO CUTE! It was hard to eat them, cute as they are.
Anyone else like Skittles? I love them, but I can't eat them one at a time. I have to eat them by the handful. Once I considered filling a bowl with both M&Ms and Skittles, but then I realized I haven't completely gone to the dark side. They haven't proven their cookies are better than mine.
These cauldron skittles have neat names for the flavors: bogey berry, gripping grape, lurking lemon, petrified pear, and twisted tangerine. It makes the usual flavors seem more spookified. XD I like the sour ones the best but I'm a sour fiend when it comes to candies that aren't chocolate. And in the choco department, I can't live without Galaxy bars. Fortunately I bought over half a dozen when I was in Epcot. And you all though Epcot was the lame park. HA. How about getting drunk around the world? I did. :3
Hard to see in this pic but the little orange pumpkin is full of orange slime. I work at an after school program that has slime making as part of many of the curriculum, and in the last year, slime making has gone through the roof. When Michael's has stuff and ads for it, you can see it was quite the It Thing for the kids. I saw a lot of slime projects from science project events. So slime in the house isn't as super exciting as one might assume, but this stuff is this bright radioactive orange which is quite appealing. Also shown is this super cute cutout of a pumpkin that's going up on the wall. SInce I've already started decorating slowly, I should be done with it by mid first week of october. Hopefully. Maybe.
Oh god there isn't enough time for Halloween. @_@
You guys like Madballs but don't like the round sphereicalness of a Madball? Try this flat version, which according to the package, is rather rare. I'd try it out but Luna is a demon when it comes to chewing things, and has ruined a few shoes and toys lately. Pretty sure this would last all of 3 seconds. Kinda looks like a mummy pig vampire.
This month's specimen is a cell from the movie Alien. I think Ripley is an undercelebrated character. She's sorta like Samus without the Zero Suit, but with all the badassery. My cell has the lady in question so I'm pretty lucky. I can't decide which one I like more, the first or second movie; my favorite horror movies are less visceral and more atmospheric, like The Thing, or hits you hard in the humanity like Train to Busan (quite possibly one of the finest zombie movies I have ever seen), but Alien and Aliens has a good atmosphere that I really enjoyed. If you've never seen them, I suggest you give them a try.
A stack of cards for the month fits the theme for the most part--excepting the Archie, but those cards are for probably trick or treating--and the highlight of the set are the cards for The Frighteners. I really liked this movie, though as a child, it was really creepy (especially the effects for the end), but it had some really great funny parts. Michael J Fox is on point the whole movie, playing a ghost whisperer who uses his gift to not help people find peace, but to con them for money. Its like Alestor Crawley all over again XD. The effects are a bit hokey now but that's why I love it so much.
There were 2 packs of Monsters of the Gridiron, which have football players dressed up in funny costumes. Quite amusing. The Dinosaurs Attack cards are for the sort who are fans of dinos and Mars Attacks. They're a little violent for my tastes but they're classics. Gotta have some of those for the collection. XD
Another Trash Pack was included and my set had a necklace charm on a chain, a keyring, and a lil squishy monster dude. The carabiner is very useful, and I'll definitely use it for hanging my keys on my belt loop, since girl pants and shorts don't hold full on keys.
Note its "not for climbing". Its almost like it knows I have a climbing gear Link costume. XD
Why hello there, Dino Drac poster and sticker. The sticker is totally badass, and the poster has pretty much all my favorite candy ever, from ghost Peeps, to Starburst and the always divisive candy corn. Have you seen some of the crazy new flavors of that? Caramel, the par for course pumpkin spice latte, etc. I'm a simple girl who prefers the original sugar wax flavor, but I can eat those things by fistsized gobs of the stuff. Its prolly why i need to lose weight.
Its so halloweeny I can't wait to see the october poster. With the last few years of the funpacks, I'll just be filling the first album book with all the posters. They're so fun to look at, with all the fun drawings and pictures of food, videos and toys. Its like having a toybox but more compact.
Another newsletter and essay. The essay is fun; its about things Matt has dressed up as for halloween over the years. I do remember the halloween articles on his previous costumes, and Madd Matt is one of my faves (does that count? It is a persona but it requires make up so XD), so its fun to look at his list. I recall having some costumes that prolly were outside the norm, like once I went as the Blue Ranger, or a devil in high heels despite the fact I was like in 4th grade and couldn't walk in those for more than 2 houses. Fun stuff.
For the challenge, draw a halloween version of an animal, I chose an okapi. Have you ever seen these guys before? Like some pokemon fusion of a giraffe and a zebra. When I was staying at Kidani Village, there were a couple okapi that hung out near our room. They're one of my favorite animals cuz of how strange they look and how cute they are. they're literally a pokemon XD. I suppose a Girfarig is inspired by that but this one you can actually see in zoos. I halloweenified it by coloring it black and orange, which makes it look even more strange and magical. Man, Nature, you awesome. XD
We're winding down to the month of pumpykins and ghost stories and candy! Are you all ready??
