As we wind down from the month (man I can't believe it went so fast!), and the light begin to go low, with candy dwindling as the knocks get less frequent, its best to get the most bang for your buck on this All Hallows Tuesday. To that end, I've decided to share 2 youtube channels that I enjoy for the background or just scaring myself silly so I can't sleep and have to sit and play Mario Odyssey until dawn.
The first channel is one of my most favorites: Top5s. THe owner has a really good soothing voice and not only finds some really neat topics, but also has a good chunk of awesome documentaries as well. He has a newly revamped website I hear, with user submissions, so its worth the check out (and maybe snag one of those snazzy hoodies :3). The video linked below is an example but click here for the 2017 Halloween Playlist. Enjoy and as always, we'll see you in the next video.
The second set is from the similarly named Top 5 Unknowns, which feature different topics (usually creepy), and have a number of different narrators. Each has their own feel and style, so its worth listening to. My personal favs are the ones with creepy stories from reddit or 4chan. Below is a taste and click here to go to the Creepy playlist.
And here's a taste of their shorter Terrifying Tuesdays (click link) series:

You certainly won't be spoilt for choice. XD DOn't blame me when you're unable to sleep tho.
If you want some good reading, Saya in the Underworld had been translating 2chan paranormal stories for a few years. Sadly she's gone into hiatus since 2015, but she has TONS of scary stories in bitesize for you to freak yourself out with. You'll find a lot of the stories are abrupt and quick, much like our favorite horror anime Yamishibai, which I believe also pulls the same material from internet stories on paranormal boards. You won't be disappointed.
Okaruto's site also has 2chan story translations, but sadly like Saya, hasn't posted in a couple years. Still this should give you plenty of reading material.
Author Zack Davisson, writer of the book Yurei: The Japanese Ghost, had his own blog on various stories: Hyakumonogatari Kaidenkai. I do like the entry on ghost taxis.
And if you're still looking for some movies to give you the right mood, and you've already blown out Stranger Things, Aunt Peaches has a feature from a friend on some movies you may have not considered yet. Give them a go; there's always Netflix.
Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!!
