The last four episodes of season 4 are a heaping helping of NOPE!
Let's just say they showcase why it's not a bad idea to GO WITH YOUR GUT!
Calling Crane Oh...yeah, these kind of games NEVER go well. So the way how this game goes is kinda like working with a Ouija board. The way how the game goes, you put a red string and a razor in a cup of water overnight. The day after, you write the name of a dead person on a piece of paper, and swallow it. It's said the ghost of the dead person is supposed to appear and talk with you.
These three middle school girls heard about this game from their homeroom teacher, whom disappeared three months ago. Another student who played the game lost their minds.
SO OF COURSE, these girls want to play it...save for one, whom is not terribly sure about it.
Unfortunately, she's the one who has to swallow the crane.
White Line No, I don't mean the song… Imagine yourself as a teacher, finishing up work at the end of a school day. Every student has left...except for one that is still outside. You don't know this student...that is to say, you don't know if that student actually goes to the school. Nevertheless, you see him outside of your window, drawing a white line into the ground, using the white markers used for baseball, soccer, and football. When you go outside, he isn't there...but the line goes into the school. Now, if you're a sensible teacher that listens to their gut, you would absolutely NOT FOLLOW THAT BOY! This teacher, on the other hand…
One thing to note: This is the one episode that doesn't have a live action section...I'd like to think it's a bit merciful for this one.
Snow Hut Building snow huts with your family? Fun! Finding a snow hut similar to yours? Stranger… Seeing what's INSIDE it? NOT FUN! That's what this kid in this story goes through; unfortunately, it has some...darker implications as well. I'm not going to say much, so it's best if you take a look at it and assess it for yourself, since it's creepy as hell :O. Underground Walkway Go. With. Your. Gut. If your gut tells you you shouldn't be somewhere, you shouldn't be there at all! Now, you may think that this guy in this story doesn't have much of a choice, since he was getting out of the rain as he was getting home. But he found himself near an underground walkway to a station, so he decided to take it. The tunnel he was in was long...and I mean, LONG...almost infinite loop, long. He DID pass by a worker though, but what he said to him was...very strange.
Before he met this worker, however, his gut was telling him to turn back.
...he really should've listened.
That episode wraps up season 4, and while we didn't rightly hear the familiar voice of our favorite (read: not favorite; asshole, even.) storyteller, the fact that we had multiple storytellers telling us the story raises an interesting question: Where IS the storyteller? We know that the mask can tell stories, but we know that that storyteller is also ever present, as we saw in the end of Season 3. Maybe he'll show up in season 4? Who knows. All I know is that we got a different flavor of storytelling with this season. Some may appreciate the classic type of story telling, but others may not. Regardless, hopefully it's help to take your imagination down an….interesting path…
