Its that time of year again! Time for the October DinoDrac funpack! With treats and scary things and lots of stuff in between, like figures and cards and stickers and mini posters.
Its been a huge undertaking to try to repair the images on the site, and the restoration work has been slow, but I'm getting there! I dunno if the halloween articles will be all finished before Halloween (well, nope, they won't but I'm gonna try XD).
I've been really excited about this pack, cuz this month has been going really fast for me, and I need the extra spooky feeling to carry me into the holiday.
Let's start with my favorite part, the snackies. Its was like I went trick or treating without leaving my desk. The Utz pretzels were really tasty, and the shapes are really good too. Everyone loves Cheetos, though I like the puffed versions better (and the paws the best).
For sweets, Fruit by the Foot, and GUSHERS BABY. Those were the first to go. I need more, except they're dangerous, cuz I can kill a box in one sitting. I used to eat snacks while I gamed (which is why I'm a chubs XD), and Gushers would be PERFECT for playing Splatoon 2.
Don't lie, you know its true. :9
I used to eat orange sherbet while playing Legacy of Kain Defiance, so not all my choices made sense, mind you.
The cards! I love the cards included, which are halloween inspired. Universal Monsters, Sabrina the Teenaged Witch, Spawn, and another pack of the Monsters of the Gridiron, along with a pack of Snotty Signs stickers. I think I have a few of the gridiron ones, probably nearly a full set though I know I have lots of doubles.
The Spawn cards were a neat addition, but I'm hella hype for Sabrina. I didn't have a chance to watch it when it was on tv, but it makes me want to watch it a lot more now. I wasn't a Charmed fan, but Sabrina seemed like my kinda witchcraft show.
I did watch Bewitched, but I am old. And I like Nick @ Night.
The specimen this month is a classic monsters stamp, and I got my man Lon Chaney Jr as the Wolf Man (and yes, I was team werewolf for Splatoon 2 XD). These were released in 1997, part of the Universal Monsters revival.
You gotta give those monsters credit, cuz a lot of your current monster incarnations are based on these depictions from decades ago. Werewolves, Frankenstein's monster, Dracula; this is were the shorthand of monster make up comes from. Its a trip to go back and watch these old movies, and see the infancy of the "classic" monster movies. Side note: saw Nosferatu not too long ago. The movie is long and has a slow pace, but MAN. The make up and effects. Nice and chilling.
My new desk buddy is a half man/half fly monster. I don't think its actually The Fly related, but I'm calling him Jeff anyway. Its part of the vintage mystery monster mystery bag. Its kinda cute, and not so gross for me to display.
He doesn't stand too well, but that's not too bad. I can lean him up against stuff like a desk lamp.
I gotta say, the Dinosaur Dracula font on the bag is epic as fuck. I love it.
The mini posters this month are the super cute drawing and a pic of Matt's awesome mood table with the crowning piece being the My Pet Monster sitting on a Game of Thrones-esque pile of Halloween booty. Seriously, the MPM is so epic. And the McDonald's bucket!! God i need one like yesterday.
And don't think I can't see that lil box of Ecto-Cooler. Damn I want one; I never got one in the revival release.
The newsletter and the essay are great; how to make your stay at home halloween a good one this year, despite the fact it's on a Tuesday, but that shouldn't stop you. Treat yourself with something pumpkin and fall-y, watch some scary movies you haven't (its about time to dust off that Criterion collection dvd for Hausu/House), and freak yourself out, which should be easy with not only season 4 of Yamishibai but season 5, and don't forget to check out some freaky vids on youtube (my recommendations are the similarly named Top5, and Top 5 Unknowns).
Halloween is nearly upon us, Lunies, so cuddle up close with some snacks, and roll the movies, game streams and video games.
