Autumn Moon Festival
A festival held at the beginning of fall. Much like the traditions of the Japanese holiday Obon (the festival of the dead), the Mexican Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead), and Halloween, the Autumn Moon Festival celebrates the spirits of each region’s indigenous Call beasts. It is a weeklong celebration, in which there are nightly festivities and open air fairs until the first full moon of the fall season. It generally is the start of the fall season. For the children, its customary to wear colorful costumes of regional Calls, and adults (like Halloween), can give the children treats for their costumes. Such costumes are often sold at the beginning of the week, though in some of the smaller villages, many households make their own costumes by hand.
