Hey, look at that; some art with some effort put in! It’s been a while.
In keeping with tradition here at RL, I wanted to do at least one piece of art for it. It’s actually something of a sequel to one of the pieces I did last year, also featuring Yuna; seems she wasn’t quite capable enough of handling herself, and her luck’s just about to run out...
I’ve dicked around with mix media stuff before, with this rating as one of the more excessive I’vee done; we’ve got a base sketch that was inked and coloured with markers, cut out and stuck to artificially aged paper, photographed once before taking a photo of that photo, and digitally manipulating it to the result you see above. I’m mixed on the end result; It’s a miracle I cut Yuna out as well as I did given I used scissors, but I really could’ve done with an extracto knife (and it shows), plus whilst I do like the weird “sorta rustic bad VHS copy emulation” effect and the vibe it gives the image, it does rob the image of some of its detail. I even botched the “INSERT X/Y COINS” message and didn’t realise until I’d done all the legwork; it was supposed to read 2/2 to imply no coins had been put it, and now it just sort of looks like Yuna’s facing death AND throwing £2 down the shitter. But, hey, it was an interesting experiment, more drawing/arts and crafting = more practice with both, and it killed it a bit of time on a Monday evening, so we all win!
