Its that time of year again. Time for a box of spookiness and treats from my favorite site Dinosaur Dracula.
These boxes never disappoint, and this year's was extremely looked forward to. Work's been hell, and I really needed this box to come my way and give me back some of my lost halloween spirit. @_@
So let's start with the treats! Herr's potato chips, Utz pretzels and zombie Sour Patch kids.
You'll have to ask Doc how the candy and chips were as they disappeared fast. XD;;;;
I have a softspot for pretzels because they can be made into cute shapes, and these didn't disappoint.
Has anyone ever gotten these pretzels or chips in their halloween bags? I've always wondered if anyone gets chips and how well they last bouncing around the candy. Do they get crushed? The pretz's seem more sturdy though.
Caaaaaaaaarrrrrrds!!! 8D And a fat stack this time too! Some fantasy cards from the mind of Wayne Barlowe, Shadow Hawk, KISS, animated Batman and Robin, and cards for the Phantom movie, as well as a few loose cards, like ET and Tron. I love Tron, so it was nice to have a retro card for it.
The Phantom brought back some memories, since I was all over those spandex suited superhero movies, though I lean to the cheaper made, Italian ones like Super Sonic Man.
Mostly because they're terrible. 8D
Its nice to have such a fat stack of cards of different varieties. It makes looking back on each month's set really interesting.
The 2 bags of figures were super cute. I got a bendy witch from the UK, complete with a broom, and a spanish ghost, to match the Super Monstruos line collection I got going. What I like about the ghost is it reminds me of the sheeted spirits you'd see in shows like Scooby-Doo, its a nice hefty weight, and pretty stable for standing easily, which makes it super handy as a desk buddy.
I like the witch too and its still super bendy and poseable. I probably won't fuss with it too much so I don't break it but its in real nice condition for vintage rubber toys.
I gotta say the orange paper makes the ghost pop out XD. You can bet that's gonna be a flower soon.
The specimen for the month is a set of venezuelan stickers. I opened a pack (I got a couple), and one was a dino-looking dragon wearing Geordi La Forge's glasses rocking out with a flaming saxophone, and the other in the pack was a misshapen blue zombie head with a rainbow afro.
Like...these are so awesome I haven't decided if they're brilliant or epic.
The DraQla gum is packed with red food dye so your whole mouth turns red, and i haven't tried yet but you can bet i will. I love things that dye my mouth colors, though I'm more partial to Gushers blue. JP candy is pretty good, if any of the multiple snack loot crates are of any indication.
The poster and stickers are pretty nifty, and the sticker design is super awesome. I'm glad I got 2, so I can keep one for something special and the other for my sticker book.
Bulgy eyes on Alf make him look creepier than he usually does, but its got its own charm. It makes me wish I had time to do a halloween table or shelf. ;.;
Also, hello Ecto-Cooler hiding in the corner!
The newsletter gives a rundown of where the pieces are coming from; it was quite the international cast and crew.
I also love the essay on never saying no to a horror movie. It really is an experience to watching a scary movie, the vibe feels more electric with other people around you. If you get a stinker, it can still be fun with the right crowd. I do remember Paranormal Activity was so fun, screaming with a crowd and jumping with the theater. It was one of the best movie experiences I've ever had; top experience was watching Blazing Saddles with my best friends. Nothing beats that. XD
