Just in time, before the month is out, is this month's final Halloween themed funpack from Dinosaur Dracula. There's a LOT of high value items this time, and I'm super excited to delve into it. Also, I'll try to include some pics of my unofficial Halloween mood table and miniature room next to it (I went to a miniature show earlier in the month and bought a few cool tiny things for dressing up some of the models I've done this year.
So let's take a look!
I like to do the "treats" first, and the treats this year are pretty cool. First off is the tube of Warheads super sour spray candy. And as I write this, I gave myself a couple good sprays and I swear to god, I was Ric Flair on turbo for like the next 10 seconds. Constantly screwing my face like a cartoon and choking out "wooo!"Â
So absolutely addictive. Its definitely sour apple. The kind of apples you need to douse in caramel, and I'm here for it.
WOO!
The cards are from the 1991 sets of cards you could give out in lieu of candy, and I have many packs from previous funpacks, and my favorites are always the Mario or Zelda ones. But the Inspector Gadget card was a pleasant surprise. Hang on, I need another hit of that sour spray. XD
The first big ticket item I was looking forward to. I discovered wax melts through these funpacks, as Matt collabs occasionally with House of Wax Melts, and each of the scents are delightful. My favorites lately are Cara Mia (Addams Family rose scented), and Dream No More (Elm Street orange creamsicle). Crystal Lake 2 has a fresh, woody, ozoney scent that's great for summer.
Haunted Breakfast is a tasty, sweet, breakfast cereal, pecany pancakey scent. Definitely good for the entire fall season, outside of Halloween. I'm melting one now and it's so fluffy and sweet. Very comforting. Sadly this isn't available outside of the funpacks BUT Friends Don't Lie seems to have a similar profile? Not exact, but close. Check out the shop cuz you won't be disappointed!
The second big ticket item is the Unsolved Mysteries broadcast soundtrack ON CASSETTE. If you don't know what this is, I don't want you in my club XD Dude, this show was my CHILDHOOD. True crime, supernatural, paranormal, historical mysteries, this show had it all and it had Robert Stack as the host. I'll forever love his voice and his trenchcoat XD. Can confirm that Terror-Vision Records always do the best job in both the mastering of the soundtracks as well as the packaging. I have a few cassettes from previous funpacks and they have cool cassette colors (the one for Basket Case was a cool pink XD). I'm rocking out to this til the end of the month (thank goodness I have one of those cassette/bluetooth/vinyl/radio/kitchensink dealies in the living room).
Here's an interestring item. It's a FT Magazine from 1992, which appears to be a small magazine that McDonalds gave out at one point? I've never seen these before! FT seems to be an abbreviation for Fun Times and had interviews with various celebrities, some small games, factoids, and adverts for Maccas all over. It's pretty cool! I saw an issue with the Govenator before he was the governor XD Its going for like $18 if you want that copy. I have it in a sleeve to preserve it, and it's such a blast to look at the fashions and shows contemporary with that time.
Peep those happy meal buckets. Remember the purple witches? Didn't they only do there for one year? I want one of those XD.
Here's the mini posters and sticker this month, Nightmare Freddy and a Monster Bash advert. That was for Doritos and Pepsi, if I recall. I remember cutouts for that wayyyy back. They were as cool as the life sized Elvira adverts for the beer aisle.
Nightmare Freddy was a bootleg Freddy toy and somehow it looks more terrifying than original Freddy. >>
The gremlin sticker really makes it though, the WB logo tattooed to his chest XD Dunno why this makes me laugh so much.
Rounding out the box are the essay and newsletter. The halloween drawing challenge this month is to draw and color our favorite costume we've worn. I dunno if I could decide! My favorites were Isabelle from Animla Crossing, Princess Toadstool (yeah, before she was known as Peach here in America, that's how far back that one goes XD), or maybe a med bay crew member from Star Trek TNG. That I'd have to think about XD.
The essay is about purchases Matt's made for the 2023 year, and include advertisements of the rare presuasion, like a translite (menu board transparent ads for drive thrus) for McDonald's pumpkin pies when they used to be deep fried (THAT'S a deep cut and I don't mean sealife idols), a Halloween 3 ad that has NOTHING TO DO with the end result movie XD, and an ad from the 1960s. I always love seeing classic ads for halloween, or cool limited edition items. A friend and I spent a couple days looking for the Dunkin Donuts spider donut plush keychain; she finally got one, but I had to order off eBay. Worth it, the lil sucker is so cute!
As we close out this article, here's a few pics of my Halloween mood table:
I also dressed up my little loft miniature with pillows, pots and other decorations I bought from the miniature show, as well as a pikachu keychain and small fall leaved trees I made from some mini trees and beads.
Hope you guys are having a great week! I'll be finishing my Fatal Frame 2 for PS2 run tonight, 5:30 pst on twitch, so hope to see you there!
