Associated with the stable of Ken Payne, Michael Norman Satterley rode three winners at the end of the 1960s.
Miss Camie, his first ride, was unplaced in the Codington Selling Hurdle at Southwell on April 29, 1968, but he did not have to wait long, less than a month, for his first success. It came at Market Rasen on May 21 when Portulac won the Grimsby Selling Handicap Hurdle, overhauling the long time leader Gunness on the run-in to score by a length and a half.
Eleven days later, Michael struck again when the nine-year-old Neronton, trained like Portulac by Ken Payne, won the Shire Selling Handicap Hurdle, a race for novice riders, at Hexham by a length. Despite that win, Michael did not keep the ride, with Colin Parker taking over in the saddle.
Although he had a few rides the following season, 14 in all, he only had one win, when Cold Henry was the clear winner of the Raynham Selling Hurdle at Fakenham on Easter Monday, April 7, 1969, beating Gold Piece, the mount of Gordon Holmes, by three lengths. Michael rode Cold Henry to finish second at Hereford later that month but had no more winners.
