Born at Brighton, Frank Sharpe served his apprenticeship with Norman Scobie. In 1929, while still an apprentice, Sharpe rode 22 winners, including Medarlin (Prince Edward Handicap) and Grease Paint in the Great Yorkshire Handicap.Â
