Silver Image repeatedly refused to line up for the race and was led up to the tapes. The outsiders, Evander and Polemarc, were both badly away.
The Chester Cup, run on May 4, was the third of George's big winners in 1922. Riding Chivalrous and drawn 13, George made every yard of the running on rank outsider Chilvarous, who started at 50-1.
