George Simpson

George Simpson was born at Pickering in the North Riding of Yorkshire. He was apprenticed to John Scott.

His big race victories included the 1843 Cambridgeshire on Nat, the 1847 Manchester Cup on Sheraton and the 1850 Criterion Stakes on Mountain Deer.

He later trained for many years at Epsom.

He died at his home in Adelphi Road, Epsom on February 16, 1894, aged 68. His widow was left unprovided for and a fund was set up for her benefit.
