Peter Saint

Peter Saint was born on April 19, 1947, and served his apprenticeship with Jack Calvert at Thirsk in 1961.

He was associated with such horses as Highland Melody, Dondeen and Celo. He then had brief spells with both Ron Mason and Dick Peacock before becoming a valet.

During his time as a valet he looked after Jonjo O'Neill, Mark Dwyer, Ron Barry, Paddy Broderick, Stan Mellor and many more.

Peter retired from racing in the early 90s and went back to college, opened a football academy for players with disabilities, then finally retired in Hartlepool in 2007.

His job now is to look after his beautiful grandchildren.

Peter's son, Nick, rides work for David Thomson's yard at Bolam. He has a horse called Roja Dove so the Saint name carries on.
