Thai name: ไผ่เหลืองจีน (phai lueang chin).
Indonesian name: bambu cendani.
English name: Golden Bamboo.
Distribution: THAILAND: introduced, in cultivation. — CHINA (East): Fujian, Zhejiang. — In cultivation in many countries worldwide.
Culm size: Height 10 (12) m, diameter 5 (7) cm. This is the potential maximum size, but it usually grows much smaller in Thailand.

Uses: Mainly as an ornamental garden plant, and for landscaping.
Specimen: BS-0193 [BBG] (living plants), northern Thailand, cult.
Characteristics: Culms stiffly erect. Culm-internodes green, maturing to yellow, lower internodes often irregularly shortened, somewhat bulged, and occasionally with oblique nodes. Culm-nodes of the lower and middle culms distally inflated for several millimeters below the sheath scar ring, Foliage-leaf blades light green.
