Chinese name: 云南方竹 (yún nán fāng zhú).
Distribution: THAILAND: Introduced, but there is no known record of whether this species has been successfully kept in cultivation in Thailand. — CHINA (South): southwestern Sichuan, Yunnan, at 1,600–2,650 m altitude.
Descriptions (Chimonobambusa ningnanica):

Comments:
(1) Chimonobambusa yunnanensis is considered conspecific with Chimonobambusa ningnanica Hsueh & L. Z. Gao; cf. KewScience POWO, accessed 8 July 2020 [#1305].
(2) No record of a flowering event of this species could be found, neither under the name Chimonobambusa ningnanica nor Chimonobambusa yunnanensis (8 July 2020).
Specimen: BS-0660 [SSG] (living plants), raised from seeds. The seeds from FMXG, Yunnan, China, as "Chimonobambusa yunnanensis, 云南方竹 (yún nán fāng zhú)"; collected in early June 2011, and received on 21 June 2011 (BS-0660); collected May 2012, May 2013, and early May 2014, but were not received.
Seed viability: Rather short, 2–3 weeks under normal atmospheric conditions, or 1–2 months under very low temperatures above freezing point. Seeds need to be stored in humid conditions and should not be dried out. If affected by mold, a fungicide solution treatment prior to sowing is needed (e.g., 5 g Carbendazim in 2 l water, seeds to be soaked for 1–2 hours). — acc. FMXG.
Seed weight: 10 g ≈ 20–30 humid, de-husked seeds.
Seed germination: Over 100 de-husked seeds (BS-0660) set on different growth media, atmospheric humidity >70%, 21 June 2011. A few seeds germinated.
Comments: The seedlings were distributed in northern Thailand, but the current locations of the cultivated plants are unknown.
Chimonobambusa yunnanensis (BS-0660): Seeds, humid, bare of husks (left), germinating seed, on a mix of fine gravel, sand, coir fibre, peat and rice husks, 10th day (right)
