Lingnania cerosissima (McClure) McClure, Lingnan Univ. Sci. Bull. No. 9, 1940: 35.
Synonym: Bambusa cerosissima McClure, Lingnan Sci. J. 15, 1936: 637.
Thai name: No known records.
Chinese name: 箪竹 (dān zhú).

Descriptions:
(1) "Culms 3–7(–15) m, 2–5 cm in diam.; internodes 30–60 cm or longer, densely white powdery; wall 2–4 mm thick; nodes flat; sheath scars corky; branching absent from lower nodes. Branches many, subequal. Culm sheaths late deciduous, thickly papery, much shorter than internodes; densely glaucous, hispidulous, apex slightly concave; auricles narrowly oblong, oral setae long, slender; ligule ca. 2 mm, slightly convex, fimbriate; blade strongly reflexed, base 1/4–1/3 as wide as sheath apex, adaxially glabrous. Leaf sheaths glabrous; ligule ca. 1 mm; auricles conspicuous, occasionally absent; oral setae straight; blade narrowly lanceolate, 16–20 × 1.5–3 cm. … [flowers and seeds described]." — Flora of China, as "Bambusa cerosissima" [#1303].
(2) "… caespitose. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms erect; pendulous at the tip; 1000–1500 cm long; 40–50 mm diam.; woody; without nodal roots. Culm-internodes terete; hollow; 40–60 cm long; glaucous. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement many; with subequal branches. Culm-sheaths glaucous; pubescent; with erect hairs; auriculate; setose on shoulders. Culm-sheath blade narrowly ovate; reflexed; pubescent. Leaves cauline. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Leaf-sheath oral hairs setose. Leaf-sheath auricles falcate. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Collar with external ligule. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades linear, or lanceolate; 15–20 cm long; 10–20 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 10–14 secondary veins. Leaf-blade surface glabrous, or puberulous; hairy abaxially. Leaf-blade apex acuminate. … [flowers described]." — Kew GrassBase, as "Bambusa cerosissima" [#1335].

Specimen: BS-0750 [-] (seeds), from FMXG, Yunnan, China, as "箪竹 (dān zhú), Lingnania cerosissima, Bambusa cerosissima"; collected in late April 2012 (BS-0750), and received on 10 May 2012; collected in Apr. 2013 and Apr. 2014, but were not received.
Seed weight: 10 g ≈ 200–250 humid spikelets (husk-wrapped seeds).
Seed viability: Seeds are viable for only a short period, one month under normal atmospheric conditions; three months in storage at 1–6 °C; the seeds must be kept humid (according to FMXG).
Seed germination: Seeds did not germinate. Special treatment of seeds is required (→ Growing Seeds).
Comments:
(1) The attempt to get the seeds to germinate failed. Judging from the seed morphology, BS-0750 is most likely a species of Lingnania. Whether it is Lingnania cerosissima or another species of Lingnania can not be verified.
(2) Another, independent introduction of a bamboo labeled Bambusa cerosissima from China into Nan Province of Thailand in the 2010s was recorded, which could be genuine Lingnania cerosissima.
