Specimen: BS-0652 [BBG, SSG] (living plants), raised from seeds, the seeds from FMXG, Yunnan, China, as "Dendrocalamus xishuangbannaensis, 版纳龙竹 (ban na long zhu)", collected May 2011 and May 2012, received 19 May 2011.
Characteristics: Branches from the basal culm up (resembles Dendrocalamus giganteus, but this species has no low-culm branching).
Seed viability: Unknown, viability is assumed to last at least several months.
Seed weight: 10 g ≈ 325–350 dried spikelets (husk-wrapped seeds).
Seed germination: Seed placed in moistened coir dust at 100%, in May 2011, atmospheric humidity >70%, coleoptiles emerged after 7 days, germination rate high (>60%).
