Distribution: Origin unknown.
THAILAND: No records are known from Thailand, but the distribution of the species may extend into Thailand's borderland areas with Malaysia. — MALAYSIA (Peninsular): northern part: Perlis and Kedah, cultivated.
Descriptions:
(1) "Culm sheaths yellowish green, covered with shiny pale silvery appressed hairs; blade broadly lanceolate, erect; auricles low rims 0.5–2 mm high, glabrous; ligule 4–7 mm high, the base 2.5–4 mm high, irregularly divided into coarse bristles 6–10 mm long. Culms to 12 m tall, stiffly erect, commonly 4–5 cm diameter; internodes 35–40 cm long, dark green, not white-waxy, with scattered pale silvery hairs at the upper half of the internode. Leaf: blades 12–35 cm long, 2.5–6 cm wide, both sides glabrous; stalk 2–3 mm long, the abaxial edge with a row of long pale bristles to 5 mm long; auricles small lobes 1 mm high, glabrous; ligule a subentire to somewhat toothed rim 3–5 mm high; sheath developing a scale-like callus on the abaxial side near the top." — K.
