Distribution: THAILAND (West): Kanchanaburi Province, Tanaosri (or Tenasserim) mountain range (เทือกเขาตะนาวศรี), in lower montane forest, 1,500–1,900 m altitude. — MYANMAR: Tenasserim Mountain Range: Mulayit Taung (Hill) (မုလအိတောင်).
Description:
"Culms erect, 3.5–5(–7.5) m high, tips straight; nodes with somewhat prominent supranodal ridge and a ring of root thorns evenly distributed around the lower culm nodes, thorns 0.3–1(–2.5) cm long; nodal line horizontal, more or less the same diameter as the adjacent internodes; internodes glabrous, terete, light green, 15–35 cm long, 1–2.5 cm in diameter; walls 1–2 mm thick at mid-culm portion; young shoots purplish-green, glabrous. Branches developing from the lowermost quarter or mid-culm upwards. Mid-culm branch complement with mostly 3 branches per node, the middle branch dominant and slightly bigger than the rest. Culm leaves deciduous, symmetrical; sheaths light green to purplish green when mature, triangular, (5–)8–18 cm long, apex truncate, glabrous; auricles inconspicuous, up to 1 mm long, oral setae a few and deciduous; ligules inconspicuous, eciliate, 1–2 mm long; blades slightly recurved, light green when young and purplish green when mature, lanceolate or narrowly lanceolate, 0.3–0.4 × 0.9–2.8 cm, as broad as the sheath apex. Foliage leaves with sheaths 2.4–3.7 cm long, striately veined, glabrous; auricles inconspicuous, oral setae present; ligules inconspicuous; blades glabrous on both sides, lanceolate or oblong, 7–11 × 0.9–1.3(–2) cm, apex acuminate. … [flowers described, seeds unknown]." — W.
