English 3 Syllabus/Course Overview *Please pay special attention to my Behavior Policies and Late Work Policy.
Welcome to (either) Mr. Woggon's Pre-AP 10th Grade English -OR- my English 3 course! This is my 18th year as an English Teacher, but only my third full year with The Villages High School (I started in March of 2022). I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University, and a Reading Certification. Previously, I've taught in these places: Toledo, Ohio; Maumee, Ohio; and Citrus High School in Inverness, Florida. Reading is one of my many passions, which also include drawing, writing (poetry and stories), singing, and playing or watching sports. I'm looking forward to finding out what makes you tick, so that we can make this year your best ever! In order to do this, my class observes the following key elements:
Be respectful to your classmates, your teacher(s), and to yourself. I will show you professional and personal respect at all times.
Turn off your cell phone and put it in your designated spot in the Tech Locker. They are not allowed on your person in my classroom unless I expressly give permission that day. The same goes for earbuds/AirPods, gaming devices, etc. These will distract you from your overall purpose in the class: to learn to read and comprehend at a level proficient with your grade level or higher!
Come to class with your Chromebook charged. We will use this much of the time.
Raise your hand before speaking out. I definitely want to hear your thoughts and positions, but I cannot understand what you've said if a bunch of students are blurting things out at the same time. *I am slightly hearing impaired, so I especially appreciate your support in this way.
If you have any help, concerns, or questions, please communicate with me! I'm available via school email and phone, and I definitely encourage you to talk to me.
For the classes that I am teaching this year, you must read through and sign this Behavior Management Plan (click here).
These are just a few pictures that point to all the great loves in my life: my wife (Mrs. Nelson Woggon) and my daughters (Sophia, Leah, and Paige). The pictures here portray the sources of the gleam in my smile, the crow's feet next to my eyes, and the fullness in my heart. Carpe Diem!
