Bio:
Entering his 15th year as a music educator and 3rd here at The Villages High School, Mr. Colt Campbell serves as Director of Bands where he guides all aspects of the band program. The VHS band program has experienced quick success under his tenure, both on the marching field and in the concert hall. In 2025, the Marching Buffalo finished their competition season undefeated, the Concert Band earned Straight Superior Ratings for the 2nd time in program history at MPA, and a VHS record was set for the amount of students earning seats in All-District Bands.
Prior to moving to Florida, Mr. Campbell built strong music programs in both Virginia and South Carolina. At Glenvar Middle & High Schools, his alma mater, he led the program to it's first “Virginia Honor Band” recognition in 2023. He successfully launched a brand new music program at Lucy Beckham High School in 2020. At James Island Charter High School, band enrollment doubled in 3 years. In 2019, JICHS was South Carolina's sole recipient of the "Concert Achievement Award". At West-Oak High, enrollment tripled during his 5 year tenure. In 2016, WOHS earned the prestigious "Outstanding Performance Award" for the first time in program history, and again the following year in 2017. Mr. Campbell was selected as West-Oak’s Teacher of the Year in 2014.
Mr. Campbell strongly believes the skills developed in the music classroom help students develop a rich, successful life. Over the years, his students have found much success in All-District, All-State, and Honor Bands as well as scholarship auditions.
Mr. Campbell recently served as the bass trombonist of the Charleston Wind Symphony and has performed with multiple regional orchestras and jazz ensembles. In 2010, Mr. Campbell was selected as one of 3 finalists in the American Trombone Workshop: National Solo Competition, hosted by the U.S. Army Band.
Above all, Mr. Campbell enjoys spending quality time with his family. He happily resides in Middleton with his wife, Katie, their three children, Conner, Cooper, Piper, and their dog, Birdie. He enjoys outdoor adventures, theme parks, and home improvement.
