Peer Mentoring Program

The peer mentoring program is an opportunity for peers to help peers who may need someone to talk with and offer encouragement.

Mission Statement: We strive to provide a safe, welcome, and open environment for all VHS students by connecting with and encouraging our peers.

Hi! My name is Makenzie, I’m a junior this year, and I’ve been at the charter school since I was in 1st grade. When I’m not playing tennis, I love to go out with my friends, hangout with my little brother, and take my two dogs, Sophie and Remi for walks.

Hi, I'm Wisdom, I'm a junior and a peer mentor. I'm also a runner for track and starting this year cross country. I love to figure out the answer to problems and I might not always get it right but I will always give you my best.

Hi, I’m Zion! I’m on the swim and tennis team. I’m also one of the organizers for Culturescape and participate in Interact and Key Club. My interests involve anything with an engine in it and space. I listen to music, play the piano, and hang out with friends in my free time.

Hi, my name is Joleen Thompson. I’ve been going to the Villages Charter school since Pre-K3. I’m a 11th grader this year and have just joined NSHSS. My hobbies are crochet, knitting, and making jewelry. The sports that I do are Flag Football, Track, and weightlifting.

Hi, my name is Bekah and I am a senior. I joined Peer Mentoring because I love helping others and seeing the difference it can make in people. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, family, and doing jigsaw puzzles at home!

Matthew Ngo

My name is Matthew! I currently run for my high school’s cross country and track and field team, in turn providing me the opportunity to develop my resiliency, time-management, and hardwork during high school that are transferable to being a peer mentor. Furthermore, I participate in Science Olympiad, FBLA, and I am currently an officer for Key Club. I enjoy practicing piano in my free time, and playing video games when I’m not slaving away doing homework.

Annison Chandler

Hello! I am Annie Chandler and I am a junior. I wanted to be a Peer Mentor to help and make people’s lives a little easier by helping with the same problems I have faced and know others have faced. I also look forward to making new friends and getting to know more of my community. I enjoy running, traveling, and being part of my community. I love dogs and the Environment and I hope to be an Environmental Lawyer when I am older.

I'm also a part-time hostess at VKI Japanese Steakhouse in Lake Sumter Landing Square on Friday evenings and Saturdays! Hi, I’m Kennedy! I am currently a senior at VHS. I’m also a member of the Golden Girls, compete at a dance studio, and Co-Vice President for FCA! When I’m not dancing, I LOVE hanging out with friends and shopping! Can’t wait for an amazing year!

Hi, I’m Joy! I’m a senior this year in the Health Sciences Academy. I play for the girls golf team and participate in track and field. I am also an officer for Key Club and participate in Interact Club and CultureScape. I enjoy writing, listening to music, and hanging out with my friends. I joined the peer mentoring program because I know how important it is to talk about your struggles in order to overcome them, and I would love to be able to provide that support for anyone who needs it!

I am in VHS choir, theater, swim, and I love all things music. In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with my friends and family.

Hi hi, I’m Ivy, a junior who knows how valuable having someone to talk to can be. My own peer mentor once made a significant contribution to my own educational experience, which inspired me to become one myself. I may not have all the right answers, but I promise to give it my all. Whether you need advice, a listening ear, or just someone to talk to, I can be there for you.
