My name is Gabriela Miguez. I was born and raised in Miami, FL. My parents immigrated to Florida in the 80’s. My dad is from Cuba with Spanish descent and my mom is from Guatemala with Mayan descent. As you could guess, my first language was Spanish and I spent my childhood translating for my parents and drinking Cafe con leche.
Once I graduated high school, I attended Florida International University and attained a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a Minor in Education. It was at FIU that my love of teaching was ignited. It began with tutoring fellow students and in my last semester I was a lab adjunct. I also began research in education and student motivation. I presented my research at several conferences in Texas and California.
I began teaching in January 2016 in Miami Springs Senior High and I've never looked back. Five years ago I moved to Clermont, FL with my husband to be closer to family. I accepted a position at The Villages High School in Feb. of 2025, so I am brand new here, but I already feel at home!
I live with my husband and two kids: Valerie (2 yrs) and Jeremy (7 Months).
