Welcome to U.S. History and APUSH!
The 23/24 school year marks my 15th year at VCS and my 22nd year in education. James Madison once said that “knowledge will forever govern ignorance, and a people who mean to be their own governors, must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives.” The success, preservation, and health of our American republic will survive only as long as its citizens are willing and able to remain knowledgeable about and devoted to the history and constitutional principles upon which it is founded. As high school juniors, you stand on the brink of accepting this responsibility.
My wish is that your devotion to understanding these principles will allow you to enjoy and promote the blessings of liberty as you prepare to embark on your life's journey!
Mr. Atkinson’s Virtual Office Hours
For students who are at home, I can be reached by phone during my planning period (4th Period) each day. If you need to schedule a Google Meet with me for this time, please send me an email and I will send you a Google Meet link.
I am also available after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm-3:30pm. If you would like to meet during this time (either by phone or through Google Meet), please email me and I will send you a link.
Please keep in mind that all class notes, assignments, handouts and important information related to daily lessons and coursework will be posted in Google Classroom. If you are absent, please check Google Classroom for the class materials for the day. If you have any questions about the lesson after reviewing the class materials, please write them down so that we can discuss them when we meet.
