About Me
Hello and welcome to my teacher connection page!
I was born and raised in the small town of Inverness, right here in Central Florida. I am in my 11th year teaching, and 6th year at VHS. October 2019 my wife and I welcomed an addition to the family with our son Grayden, and I think I might be the proudest dad on the planet. I am also a proud dog dad to our bloodhound Gunner! I enjoy hunting, fishing, and everything outdoors.
Agriscience Academy
This academy offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career field. Students will learn occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster.
Agriscience Foundations
Students begin the program by taking Agriscience Foundations, where they will develop competencies in the areas of agricultural history and the global impact of agriculture; career opportunities; scientific and research concepts; biological and physical science principles; environmental principles; agriscience safety; principles of leadership; and agribusiness, employability, and human relations skills in agriscience. Laboratory-based activities are an integral part of this course. These include the safe use and application of appropriate technology, scientific testing and observation equipment. Students taking the Ag foundations class will take the AEST- Agriculture Associates Certification Exam. To pass, students must score 66% or higher. Passing students will receive 3 college credit hours for Agriculture Production Technology at most Florida Colleges.
Agritechnology
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to instruction in animal and plant production and processing; agriculture marketing; agricultural mechanics; employability skills; mathematics; basic science; biological sciences; communications; and human-relations skills. Students taking the Ag Tech class will take the AEST- Agritechnology Specialist Certification Exam. To pass, students must score 60% or higher. Passing students will receive 2 college credit hours for Agriculture Production Technology at most Florida Colleges.
Animal Science & Services
Animal Science and Services is designed to develop competencies in the areas of safety; animal behavior;animal welfare; animal control; and employability skills. Students taking the Animal Science and Services class will take the AEST- Animal Sciences Specialist Certification Exam. To pass, students must score 65% or higher. Passing students will receive 3 college credit hours for Agribusiness Management at most Florida Colleges.
