For this project we were told to choose one of our zoomed/cropped images and turn it into something. I took me a while to decide what to do while still emphasizing the original lines. I actually started off with different houses on a hill but then realized I wanted to do something different. I flipped over the paper and then saw a bridge but I still had to add the little lines. Then I realized that a bridge has like pillars that hold it up so I could connect those with the little lines and make that bridge. I used watercolors and pencils for the whole thing. I sketched with pencil first and then added the watercolors. It took me a while to get the final product as I kept adding the paint to different places, seeing what looked better and then sometimes making mistakes in which I had to go over and fix. To me this seems like a foggy morning or evening in the city.
I used a lot of color, line-work, shaping, and visual texture to create a balance and unity. I was pretty successful with the colors and line-work. There isn't much negative space either.
I believe that I did pretty well. I love how the colors match well with each other and flow throughout the piece. Something I wish I would've done better would be the sky and maybe the house and bridge proportion. I like the sky but I feel like it could've mixed a little better. I also love the houses and the bridge but I'm thinking now I could've put a background area behind the bridge to give a better comparison as to where the houses are. But overall I think its very pretty and unique.
