Artist Statement

For this project, we were to explore our generated inquiries by creating our 5th sustained investigation. My investigation is focused on the lively hood of Maine lobstermen. For this one specifically, I wanted to portray the idea of a late night out at work.

I used white and black charcoal to create this piece.

For this piece, I wanted to explore a different-shaped background other than the typical rectangle I've been doing. I wanted to use an old picture of my dad. Once, I was done with that I cut it out and put him on a bigger background to play with scale. I made the lobsters white to resemble sheep (counting sheep when you're tired). I don't love how it all looks together and want to come back to it to change something about the overall flow.
