The main idea guided in my work is the idea of a younger perspective on America. Theres also the idea that America can seem hateful and filled with argument. You can see this in the people screaming/yelling on the right. It shows how anyone can have a voice/part in America.
I used photoshop, colored pencils, a pen, and paper. I made the digital portrait of my brother on photoshop and then printed it, cut it out, and placed it on other paper. Then I just sketched out some designs and finished with a pencil.
I had many different ideas when creating this piece. I knew that I wanted to do a face with a younger person, inspired by the "we the people" posters we had seen earlier. I researched for inspiration and looked through my old photos for ones that would work. I finally found some of me and my siblings. I thought the one with Camden (my brother) was the best fit for my idea. Then I debated whether or not I should paint him or do the photoshop. Once I decided to do it on photoshop, I had to make the original shades red and blue. I went over once with the original shades and then went over again, adjusting the color to a red tint. I did the same with the blue hair. I had to revise and experiment with the face many times before I printed it. Once printed, I thought for a while about the designs I would be doing for the background of the art. After a lot of brainstorming, I slowly made progress. If I were to change this piece I would probably fill more of the empty space, however, the space still makes a cool emphasis on the positive objects. Overall, I enjoyed this project however should've planned my timing better for the long process I decided to take.
