Fish gone fishin'
For this project, we were to explore our generated inquiries by creating our 9th sustained investigation. My investigation is focused on the lively hood of Maine lobstermen. For this one specifically, I wanted to portray a pogie fish, but in lewer form. My dad catches pogies during the summer with a big net and then uses them as bait for lobstering.
I used acrylic paint to create this piece.
For this piece, I wanted to explore more with abtract concepts. This is why I turned the fish into a lewer and kept the whole piece relatively simple. I made the eye stand out as eye's often say a lot about something, especially a fish. I wanted to emphasize the idea that it's not alive but in a way it is. This is shown with the air bubbles. I wanted to emphaisze the balck dots on the fish as well because this is how you mainlu identify a pogie fish. The line on the fish not connecting to anything also goes with the idea that it's alive in a way and not fully being controlled by a person/external force. All in all, I like this piece but want to add to the abstract idea I've been working towards in all my pieces.
