Artist Statement

For this project, we were to explore our generated inquiries by creating our first sustained investigation. My investigation was originally fixated on architecture but I have changed my mind and am now going to focus on the impact of Maine lobstermen.

I used markers, watercolors, and a ballpoint pen to create this piece.

Honestly, I hated the process of this piece. I generated a good sketch and was very happy with it. I had high hopes and as I went on it just didn't turn out how I wanted it to. I don't know if it was the materials or overall execution but it wasn't matching the picture I had in my head. I didn't manage my time as well as I could and had no time to start over. I don't think it's terrible, but I believe I can do way better. On a positive note, this specific project inspired me to do better and generate a new, more unique, and exciting inquiry.
