Factory Face
Oil Pastels
9" x 12"
Artist Statement
For this project, we were to create a design for the Tidal Shift Award challenge. It was supposed to document some type of relation to climate change. I wanted to portray the idea of a factory and the distribution of gasses and other things that are put into the atmosphere. I also wanted to introduce the idea of population and how much climate change affects so many people.
I used oil pastels to create this piece.
I made a small earth to play with perspective and proportion to create the idea of how much it affects everyone. The houses/buildings going around the world also represent how it's affecting people around the world. The grey is obviously used with the face to symbolize a smokey color but it's also kind of a depressing color. The concept of a face shows how the smoke can have a life-like personality.
