HER FEET AND JOINTS OF THIGHS

“How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince’s daughter! The joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman”, the companions of the Shulamite, the daughters of Jerusalem, comment on the attractiveness of her person in verse 1 of Chapter 7 in the Song of Songs. The companions address the poor country girl ‘O prince’s daughter’. The people of God around you, on seeing your peculiar personality, would adore and treat you as a prince, though you may live in penury. Your feet in sandals, which run for the God’s ministry, are very beautiful in their sight. They give you the sandals for your feet, which are symbolic of the prayer and monetary support given by these very people without which it is impossible for you to do the God’s ministry. Your feet would not look beautiful without such shoes or sandals.

The curves of your thighs look like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman. The curves of the thighs are an important part of the body on which the body pivots. The people of God around you admire the beauty of your righteous life likened to the curves of your thighs on which your ministry pivots. Your personal life should so shine like the jewels, the work of the hands of a skilful workman that the people of God to whom you minister may give a good testimony about your righteousness. God’s people are closely watching your personal life. Your righteousness should so shine like the jewels made by a skilful workman. The testimony of the people of God or your companions in Christ is very important. These days, we hear through our ears testimonies of the people of God about the personal lives of some servants of God and the ministries being carried on by them according to their own will and pleasure. These servants of God should not ignore the valid criticisms of the God’s people.
