Goings On About Town, Art, Music and Entertainment in The New Yorker

"Goings on About Town" was The New Yorker's fairly comprehensive listing of events around town. The magazine also had fuller reviews of the theater, movie, classical music and nightclub attractions of the week.

The April 20 issue included a review of the Chagall show at the Metropolitan as well as listings of the major museum and galleryh exhibitions. Music critic Robert A. Simon reviewed the recent performances by the Ballet Theatre and the Boston Symphony. John McCarten's gave full reviews of the major movies opening that week and the issue contained capsule reviews of other notable films playing in town. The magazine had no theater reviews that week, but it did have capsule reviews of the Broadway attractions in "Goings On About Town," which also included listings of special events, major sports events and radio highlights. Nightclubs were also covered.
