In The Center of the Sunday News

The doubletruck in the center of the News was a spread of stand-alone news photos, usually of the human interest type. On April 14 the Sunday Newswas relying largely on its sister newspaper, the Chicago Tribune. for its centerfold. The photos in the final edition showed:

  • A mass of flags carried by representatives of patriotic organizations rallied at the Jefferson Memorial to celebrate the 203rd anniversary of Jefferson's birth.

  • A parade of old time motor cars celebrating the jubilee of the automobile in Franklin Village. Michigan.

  • A photo strip documenting three-year-old Taffy Jo-Ann Hughes' s day at the Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden.

  • A four-year old boy trying out his new wooden legs on his birthday with the help of his benefactress in Chicago.

  • Firemen surveying the wreckage at the site of an Army plane crash also in Chicago.
