Inspirational series produced by the Jewish Theological Seminary. the intellectual center of Conservative Judaism, actually was an English-language program. It aired in the 1940s as part of NBC's Sunday morning lineup of inspirational programs with an ecumenical bent, alternating with a Catholic and Protestant program. It later migrated to television. Some sophisticates like satirical novelist Dawn Powell sneered at these middlebrow "intellectual" programs. However it introduced some people to higher culture.
