12-12:30 The Eternal Light. "Tender Grass" on WEAF. Inspirational series produced by the Jewish Theological Seminary. the intellectual center of Conservative Judaism, actually was an English-language program. It aired in the 1940s as part of NBC's Sunday morning lineup of inspirational programs with an ecumenical bent, alternating with a Catholic and Protestant program. It later migrated to television. 12-12:25 and 9:30-9:45- Commentary by Fiorello LaGuardia on WJZ. He was everywhere.

12-12:30 Invitation to Learning-Writer Marvin Lowenthal, Times book critic Charles T. Poore and writer Glenway Wescott discuss "The Cloister and the Hearth"on WABC. Some sophisticates like satirical novelist Dawn Powell sneered at these middlebrow "intellectual" programs. However it introduced some people to higher culture.
