Books in the Sunday Mirror

The Sunday Mirror of April 14 devoted two paragraphs to a critique by Dr. G. Paul Butler of two books on religious subjects. He led with comments on The Way, the Truth and the Life by Glenn Clark which he wrote was based on the parables and prayers of Jesus. Clark was an inspirational writer and advocate of New Thought who believed strongly in the power of prayer and positive thinking.

The second paragraph was devoted to a more controversial work, The Idea of Christ in the Gospels by philosopher George Santayana, who was critical of the idea of God in man. Butler wrote that the book was "stimulating" but that it might "offend many by its philosophical interpretations."
