The Sunday Times Sports Section

The big sports news of the day for New Yorkers was the Dodger's defeat of the Yankees, 3-2, in the twelfth inning in exhibition play and Alamond's victory in the Experimental at Jamaica. Other sports, including fishing, polo and squash, were covered. Arthur Daley's "Sports of the Times" column was devoted to former Olympic champion weight thrower Patrick McDonald.

The section also carried a page devoted to transportation news and used car ads and classified listings. Another classified listing was devoted to pets for sale and pet boarders. A classified listing of business opportunities took up the back page.

Among the display ads in the Sports Section:

  • Garcia y Vega, the bonded Havana cigar

  • War surplus life floats from the Barry Mfg. Company

  • US Army Arctic sleeping bags from State Distributors
