Other Items From Section Two of the Sunday Herald Tribune

The paper had a selection of short verses and excerpt from longer poems. The choices this Sunday were:

The second section included an education page with news from campuses around the country and a science page on the latest discoveries and technology. It also reported that the House had passed a motion supporting US participation in UNESCO.

In an interview with the international edition of the Herald Tribune, Irene Joliet-Curie expressed her displeasure that the French had not received proper credit for their role in atomic research. She expressed no opinion over the use of this research on the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

In an ad the City College adult program offered short, intensive, moderately priced courses for very busy New Yorkers in association with the New York Public Library. The courses highlighted included:

  • Designing in Plastics

  • Art for Advertising

  • Mexico Today, designed for prospective visitors.

Most courses were $10. The college also organized courses on the premises of commercial, industrial and other organizations.
