Hibiscus tiliaceus is one of the dominant plant species in the beach forest of the Ishigaki-jima Island, and is the most principal host plant of Dysdercus decussatus simon.

オオハマボウは石垣島の海岸林の優占種の一つで、シロジュウジホシカメムシ(黒頭型)の最も重要な寄主植物です。
