Thespesia populnea is predominated in the beach forest of Ishigaki-jima Island, and is one of the dominant host plant of Dysdercus decussatus simon.

サキシマフヨウは石垣島の海岸林によくみられ、シロジュウジホシカメムシ（黒頭型）の主要な寄主植物のひとつです。
