This species seems to be at first appeared in Herrich-Schäffer (1853), but I cannot find any detailed description in it.
本種名はHerrich-Schäffer (1853)に初出のように思われるが、その中に詳しい記載文は見つけられない。

Die Arten leben in der heissen Zone beiter Hemisphären und scheinen zum Theile sehr häufig zu seyn und abzuändern.
I. Die Decken gelb, bald zeichnungslos, bald ihr Anhang, bald ein Fleck vor diesem schwarz. Kopf öfter schwarz als roth.

All the record of Dysdercus philippinus in Japan up to 2012 is misidentification of Dysdercus decussatus sauteri.
