July 22, 2014 - Eminence, MO - population 600

We will stop for lunch in Eminence today – 40 miles from Centerville. This is a very cute town, with more than 1 food option - from my initial drive down the main street. I also found a little grocery store that has greek yogurt and sun screen. The little market at Centerville did not have those things. The greek yogurt is turning out to be a good source of protein when eggs are hard to cook in the morning, and it is easier to pack in the cooler. There are a lot of flies bugging me at the moment. At least they don’t bite. Jon has had the bad luck of being stung by a wasp and then bit about 5 times by ants on the same arm. He picked up his bike bag off the ground yesterday and didn’t notice all the ants on it. (One of my best purchases on this trip was a Benadryl Itch Relief Stick for insect bites.) ATVs are a common mode of transportation here, just like in Kentucky. I see the young boys zooming through town on them. One of them even had a helmet on!
The goal today is Summersville- driving through the Ozarks. The roads go way up and then way down, over and over. On the straight stretches, you can see ahead about 3 ripples of roads ahead.
